Upper cervical chiropractic in Knoxville

One correction at a time, at the top of the neck.

Atlas Chiropractic works one way: an exam of the upper neck, a correction only when your doctor finds a reason for one, and a recheck before the next.

  • Two licensed chiropractors
  • Imaging only when medically necessary
  • Risks explained before any neck adjustment

Every visit

A visit, one correction at a time

The same six steps every time, so you always know what comes next.

  1. 01

    Step 1: We listen

Your doctor asks about your neck, your history and what you want from care. Nothing is decided before this talk.

  2. 02

Step 2: We examine the upper neck

A seated exam of posture, head position and how the neck moves, with a hands-on check of the top two vertebrae.

  3. 03

Step 3: We explain what we found

Your doctor shows you what the exam found and says whether upper cervical care fits. You can say no to any step.

  4. 04

    Step 4: One correction

If your doctor finds a reason, they make one gentle correction. One change at a time keeps the next visit easy to read.

  5. 05

    Step 5: You rest

A few minutes of rest, and a note of what was done and what to watch for.

  6. 06

    Step 6: We recheck

At the next visit your doctor checks the same things again before deciding whether to correct anything. Some visits need no correction.

Our method

What an upper cervical exam involves

The exam looks at how your head sits on your neck and how the top two vertebrae move.

Upper cervical chiropractic works at the atlas and axis, the two vertebrae at the top of the neck. At Atlas the exam is the method: your doctor decides on a correction from what it finds, and for no other reason.

  • A talk about your history and your goals

  • A seated check of posture and head position

  • Hands-on checks of how the upper neck moves

  • Imaging only when it is medically necessary, and only after your doctor explains why

Plain limits

What we do and do not do

Upper cervical care is one method with a narrow job. Here is where it stops.

  • We do not promise results

Care affects people differently and results vary. Your doctor tells you what the exam found, not what will happen.

  • We do not treat conditions

We examine the upper neck and correct it when the exam shows a reason. We make no claims about any condition.

  • Imaging only when needed

Imaging is ordered only when it is medically necessary. Your doctor tells you why before it is taken.

Questions

Before you book

What happens at my first visit?

A talk, a seated exam of the upper neck and a review of what your doctor found. If your doctor finds a reason for a correction, they explain it first and make it only if you agree.

Is it safe?

Every kind of care has risks. Soreness after a correction is common and usually short. Rare serious problems have been reported after neck adjustments, so your doctor explains the risks before any neck adjustment and you can say no to any step. If you have a sudden severe headache or neck pain, new weakness or numbness, or loss of bladder or bowel control, call 911 or see a physician first.

How many visits will I need?

Your doctor sets a plan after the exam and changes it as you go. We do not promise a number of visits, and you can stop at any time.

Do I need imaging?

Only when it is medically necessary. Your doctor tells you why before any imaging is taken.

Do you take my insurance?

We bill many plans for the parts of a visit a plan covers. How fees work explains what we bill, what we give you in writing and how to check your plan.
